Gravity matters

John Barrett's research website

PhD, MSc, mailing lists

Mailing list for Quantum Geometry: Europe-wide info about the subject area (quantum gravity, noncommutative geometry, etc.) including job adverts, conferences, seminar series, is send out through the QG network mailing list. To register for this list, send email to myself or Jorma Louko.

Mailing list for locals only, for Nottingham Gravity/Particle seminars, join the group mailing list for announcements. Use your UoN id and self-register (due to security restrictions, this works on campus or using the VPN). If you don’t have a UoN login, please contact me to join.

There are PhD places available each year; see information about PhD projects. For the best chances, you should apply in December for the usual end of September start the following year. There are also good chances if you apply during January-March. It is possible to apply later (up to July) in case local scholarships become available, but scholarship schemes with deadlines may have closed. It does vary from year to year. Please note, you do not need to write a research proposal to apply, just explain what areas of research you are interested in.

One of our PhD entrance criteria is studies in relevant subjects at masters’ level. Our MSc Gravity, Particles and Fields is an excellent training for a PhD.
