Gravity matters

Jobs, PhD, MSc, mailing lists

If you would like to attend the informal Quantum Gravity seminar, join the group mailing list for announcements. If you don’t have a UoN login, please contact me to join.

For those outside Nottingham, info about the subject area, particularly job adverts, is send out through the QG network mailing list. This now also includes information about the COST network QSPACE.

If you have (or will soon have) a PhD and are interested in applying for a fellowship to work with us in Nottingham, please see the list of fellowship schemes. Before starting to apply for one of these, or any other scheme you might know about, you should discuss your possible application with me or another senior person here in the School of Mathematical Sciences. Please understand that we can only support applications that have a good chance of success.

For jobs offered by the School of Mathematical Sciences directly, please see the main blog.

The quantum gravity group has several PhD places available each year; see information about PhD projects and grants. For the best chances, you should apply in December for the usual end of September start the following year. There are also good chances if you apply during January-March. Applications at other times of year are possible, but scholarship schemes may have closed and PhD places may be filled. It does vary from year to year. Please note, you do not need to write a research proposal to apply, just explain what areas of research you are interested in.

One of our PhD entrance criteria is studies in relevant subjects at masters’ level. Our MSc Gravity, Particles and Fields is an excellent training for a PhD.
